ACHILLES TENDONITIS

The Achilles Tendon joins your calf muscle to your heel bone and is one of the strongest tendons in the human body. The tendon can become inflamed due to excessive or repetitive strain. This condition is known as Achilles Tendonitis.

This condition can occur in runners or people who experience a lot of force and/or stress on their feet. This includes people who stand all day with “flat feet” (excessive pronation) or people who suddenly increase their physical activity. Males are five times more likely than females to develop this injury.

Your podiatrist will assess the contributing factors and determine a program involving exercises, custom orthotics to limit abnormal motion and physical therapies.
